To improve the recognition of children's rights in public policies, ECPAT Belgium undertakes advocacy work at national and European level, to ensure that the fight against commercial sexual exploitation of children remains in the agenda of policy makers.


ECPAT Belgium is a member of the Coordination pour les ONG des droits de l’enfant and the Kinderrechtencoalitie

As part of this collaboration, ECPAT Belgium is involved in promoting and advocating for the rights of the child in Belgium and helps drafting the“NGO's Alternative Report” analyzing how Belgium complies with the implementation of the Convention on the rights of the Child.

In addition, ECPAT Belgium ensures an ongoing monitoring and advocacy towards the Ministries of Justice and Equal Opportunities, as well as parliamentarians concerned, in order to maintain and strengthen the protection of children from commercial sexual exploitation.


In collaboration with ECPAT International, ECPAT Belgium is responsible for coordinating the lobbying on the European institutions in Brussels.

This lobby is undertaken through networks / collaborations with other organizations on a thematic approach: the sexual exploitation of children and trafficking, and according to an institutional approach: European Union, Council of Europe, OSCE, NATO, etc.

ECPAT Belgium regularly represents ECPAT International in various events at European level, as an expert or as a participant.
