ECPAT Belgium is proud to announce the launch of a new website, www.make-it-safe.net, containing online recommendations to surf safe, for teenagers, parents and teaching staff.

What is sexting or grooming? How to react while confronted to cyber-bullying? How to secure a password? Answers to these questions can be found on the website, available in 7 languages (French, German, English, Dutch, Turkish, Arabic and Serbo-Croatian).

The information platform is the result of a two-year project led by 5 ECPAT groups in Austria, Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands and UK together with 90 peer experts and 45 coaches.

IMG_4774To conclude those two fruitful years, ECPAT Belgium and all the participants of the project are launching today the Make-IT-Safe tools.

All in all, it is 6 video clips, 3 comics and 2 training manuals that are published and made available to all those who want to use them with other youth groups.

The tools cover topics such as right of publicity, securing passwords, respect of privacy, sexting, grooming and online harassment.

The awareness raising tools (videos & photo-novellas) have been developed by different groups of young Belgians : scouts, schools, AMO, centres for unaccompanied minors. While the two training manuals, one for youngsters, the other for the coaches have respectively been produced by ECPAT Austria and ECPAT Netherlands.

The 6th May, the fifth training of the Make-IT-Safe project was held, which enabled the group to discuss the different roman-photos/films established by the youngsters/coaches concerning respect, the right to image, sexting and passwords.

 

During the reunion, the dissemination of the project was discussed as well as the activities for parents and the sustainability of the project. Questionnaires were distributed to the youngsters and their coaches for the establishment of the evaluation made through the project.

Dans le cadre du projet Make-IT-Safe, ECPAT Belgique promeut la sensibilisation des jeunes par les jeunes à une utilisation responsable des nouvelles technologies. Ce projet original vise à faire des jeunes les acteurs de leur propre prévention.

 

 

 

Depuis la parution de la première newsletter en décembre, de nombreuses activités ont été effectuées: nouvelles sessions de formation, réunion internationale à Berlin, finalisation des scénarios pour la création de l’outil de sensibilisation, etc.
